This is a quick blog to go through what to expect from our photoshoot and answer some FAQs.
Studio: Most of my photography work will be done in my home studio in Skerries, Co.Dublin. I give out the address on request and I will guide you here and make sure you do not get lost! You may enjoy the beach even if you do go wandering off ;)
Location Work: I can come to your home or place of work, but it will cost more due to the extra time involved in travelling and setting up backgrounds and lighting equipment.
Headshots: When you enquire or book a session, you can tell me about your requirements from the shoot if you have any regarding framing sizes (face filling most of the frame / wider to take in shoulders and upper chest / mid-shots showing your outfit) and whether you prefer a bright and well-balanced lighting set-up or moodier with strong shadows. We can also do a good mix of shots so you can decide on the best look later.
Other Portraits: I can do full-length shots for you against a white paper roll background (often requested by casting directors), and also if you want full-length fashion portfolio shots in different outfits, my main photoshoot package gives you a full 2 hours to try up to 5 looks.
Reviewing Shots: Your opinion is a vital part of the process of our shoot, so throughout our session at regular intervals we'll stop and review photos taken so far to make sure we are getting the results you want, and adjust accordingly.
After the Shoot: You will receive a USB on the day or within 48 hours by post with high-res unedited jpg copies of ALL our shoot photos to review at your leisure and pick your favourites for retouching. A 2 hour shoot will usually result in 400+ photos.
Retouching: In the main Actor Headshot Package for €100, I will retouch your 5 favourite photos in Photoshop. Retouching can include basics like brightening, colouring, cropping, but also tidying any stray elements such as hair strands, spot healing, eye whitening, wrinkle reduction, and softening skin texture. But we won't go too far!
Your Final Photos: Unless you've told me in advance you need them urgently, please give me 72 hours after you've made your choices to get the retouched photos back to you. After I've completed a first edit, I will send them to you by email or WeTransfer. You'll then get a chance to request some further basic edits, all so you can have a set of final photos you're absolutely happy with.
The Cost: My great value baseline price for headshots and portraiture is €100. For that you get a 2 hour photoshoot, up to 5 different outfits, a USB of all shoot photos, and your choice of 5 favourite photos for me to retouch. You could cover close-ups, mid-shots, and full-length portraits in different outfits all in the same session.
Contacting Me: You can write to me through the site by using the contact form, or email me at driftwooddollphotography@gmail.com. If all that seems too formal, you can also check out my photography pages on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter below and make first contact with me there. I want you to have the best, stress-free experience on your shoot and come away with photos you're truly happy to show anyone across your creative life. So come chat with me now about our shoot.
Appointments: To keep things organised for my own creative life which includes filmmaking with Driftwood Doll Films and hosting Screenwriting Labs, I'm trying to stick to afternoon photography shoots (1pm onwards) Monday to Friday, so book in today!
Of course I will accommodate you outside of these days and times on request if you can't make a Mon-Fri afternoon. All you have to do is ask :)
